I found some information about 20 different Australian Insects.
I found out that insects belong to different groups or families,so I have put my 20 insects into their families and turned it into a PhotoStory!

MOST COMMON AUSTRALIAN INSECTS
IN THE SUTHERLAND SHIRE

I did a survey of 40 people from the Sutherland Shire around where I live and I asked them if they had or hadn't seen any of the 21 Australian insects from my photostory. I put my results into a graph to see which Australian insects were the most common in the Sutherland Shire. My graph shows that the Mosquito, Australian Cocroach, Moth and Green Christmas Beetle are some of the most common insects in the Sutherland Shire. It also shows that the Metallic Green Shield Bug, Mallotus Harlequin Bug, Blistered Grasshopper and the Cigarette Beetle are some of the least common insects in the Sutherland Shire.

MY NEW INSECT!

Luke's_New_Insect_2.jpg
I have created a new insect called "Insectosaur".
It lives in trees in backyards. It comes in autumn and stays through winter because it doesn't like the heat. In summer it migrates to colder places.
It has horns that sting and wings to fly away. It squirts a liquid from its antennae when in danger. It is 40mm long and its wingspan is 60mm. The female is brightly coloured to attract a male. The males have darker colours. It has an orange thorax and a blue abdomen.
The insectosaur belongs to the Hymenoptera Family, which includes bees, wasps, sawflies and ants.

Click on this link to find out what would happen if we didn't have insects. Most people think that they are pests but the truth is that we need them to survive!

Here is the advertisement I made to convince people why they shouldn't kill insects.
